New York City: How
to resolve data
privacy controversies
In an era of the smart city, the improvement of a city's
operation is heavily data driven. That is the reason why
data collection and sharing have become the key tactic for
130 solving traffic congestion in the latest smart city blueprint
released by the Hong Kong government in December
2017.
Today, connected devices are everywhere, some mobile
applications have been updating their users with real-time
traffic information, eg. road accidents, congestion and
dangerous situations. The information may be piecemeal
though, as it is limited by submissions from service
subscribers. We can only have a comprehensive picture of
the traffic situation with public data being open and shared
among private and public organisations.
