The full implementation of an IT strategy is a great
opportunity for us to "overtake by jumping the gap" – riding
on comprehensive legislation, standards and dedicated
departments to collect and manage various government
data, especially geospatial information. More critical is that
the relevant department should immediately commit to
an exact timetable and implement a common spatial data
infrastructure (CSDI) which is open to the public so that we
can fully reap the potential of the data.
