and STEM in primary and secondary schools to determine
textbooks and serve as the basis for training professional
teachers.
At the same time, Finland, consistently ranked top
in global education systems, has also carried out
pedagogical innovations. This Nordic country does not
stress examination (there is only one mandatory test at
age 16) and students have relatively little homework. The 069
World Economic Forum (WEF) pointed out that the gap
between the weakest and the strongest Finnish students
is the smallest in the world, their academic performance is
outstanding. Finnish 15-year-old students have repeatedly
performed well in the Programme for International Student
Assessment (PISA) covering reading, mathematics and
science.
